Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To investigate the effect of osmotic laxative drugs early intervention in stool management on defecation function in bedridden elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture. Methods A total of 86 elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures admitted to Nantong Fourth People's Hospital from January 2016 to December 2020 were selected and randomly selected into a control group and an observation group at admission, with 43 patients in each group. The control group received routine defecation management after admission, while the observation group received routine defecation management and oral osmotic laxative drug early intervention for defecation after admission. The defecation situation of patients in the two groups was compared. Results The time of first defecation in the observation group was earlier than that in the control group, the time of first defecation consumption was shorter than that in the control group, and the number of defecation times in the first week after admission was more than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The character of the first stool in the observation group was more reasonable than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (Z = -6.126, P < 0.05). Conclusion The application of osmotic laxative drugs can effectively prevent the occurrence of constipation, and early preventive oral osmotic laxative drugs can better manage defecation function.
