Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To investigate the curative effect and esophageal dynamics of cubeb stomachache granules combined with proton pump inhibitor (PPI) in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Methods 153 patients with GERD admitted to Nanfang Hospital Baiyun Branch, Southern Medical University from April 2020 to July 2021 were selected, and divided into control group (80 cases) and observation group (73 cases) by random number table method. Patients in the control group were treated with PPI alone, and patients in the observation group were treated with cubeb stomachache granules combined with PPI. Changes of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and esophageal dynamic indexes, quality of life and sleep quality of the two groups before and after treatment were observed. The incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the main symptoms (heartburn, acid reflux, belching or anti-feeding) and secondary symptoms (epigastric burning pain, abdominal distension, irritability, retrosternal burning pain) and total score in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). After treatment, lower esophageal sphincter pressure, lower esophageal sphincter resting pressure (LESP) and peristaltic contraction ratio in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while the lower esophageal sphincter relaxation rate (LESR) was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the score of 36-item short health survey (SF-36) in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the score of Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion Cubeb stomachache granules combined with PPI can improve the symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux in GERD patients, improve esophageal dynamics index, and have a positive effect on prognosis and quality of life.
