Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of acupoint application of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of patients with non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) related abdominal distension, and observe its influence on blood gas analysis indexes of patients. Methods Patients with NPPV associated abdominal distension admitted to our hospital from November 2019 to November 2020 (n = 106 cases) were selected as the research objects, and the selected patients were divided into traditional Chinese medicine group and conventional group (n = 53 cases in each group) according to random number table method.Patients in the control group received conventional treatment, and patients in the observation group received acupoint application of Chinese medicine on the basis of the control group. Observe the total effective rate of the two groups of patients, the incidence of abdominal distension during different periods of time on the computer, and the arterial hydrogen ion concentration index (pH), arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) before and after treatment. Results Compared with the control group (81.13%), the total effective rate of TCM group was 96.23%, and there was statistical significance between the two groups (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no statistical significance in pH, PaO2 and PaCO2 between the two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, PaO2 in 2 groups showed a significantly increased trend, pH and PaCO2 in 2 groups showed a significantly decreased trend compared with before treatment, and the above indexes in the Chinese medicine group were better than the reference group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Compared with 26.42%, 20.75 and 15.09% in the reference group, the incidence of abdominal distension in the TCM group at 24h, 48h and 72h was 11.32%, 5.66% and 3.77%, respectively, and there was statistical significance in the incidence of abdominal distension between the two groups at different time periods (P < 0.05). Conclusions Acupoint application of traditional Chinese medicine has ideal efficacy in the treatment of NPPV complicated with abdominal distension, which can significantly improve the blood gas analysis indexes of patients, and with the extension of time on the machine, the incidence of abdominal distension shows a significant trend of decline, safe and effective.
