Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To observe the clinical effect of navel acupuncture therapy for adult chronic functional constipation. Methods 70 adults with chronic constipation were randomly divided into the control group and the study group, 35 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with lactulose oral solution 15 mL bid po; the study group was additionally treated with navel acupuncture. Constipation symptoms score before and after treatment was compared between the two groups. Results There were signifi cant differences in stool characteristics, defecation diffi culty, defecation time, defecation frequency, abdominal distension, and the total score of constipation symptoms between the two groups before and after treatment (P < 0.05), indicating that both groups had good effect in relieving the symptoms of constipation. After treatment, there was statistical signifi cance in defecation diffi culty, abdominal distension and total constipation symptoms score (P < 0.05). While there was no signifi cant difference in stool characteristics, defecation time and defecation frequency between the two groups after treatment (P > 0.05). The total effective rate was 91.43% in the study group and 77.14% in the control group, and there was no signifi cant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion Navel acupuncture therapy has a significant effect on chronic functional constipation of intestinal qi stagnation type in adults. It can significantly relieve constipation symptoms, especially in difficult defecation and abdominal distension. It is worthy of further study and promotion.
