Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To analyze the characteristics of sleep disorders among seniors in order to explore ways and measures to improve their sleep. Methods All the students of a senior high school in Heyuan City were surveyed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Sleep disorders were screened out according to the criterion of PSQI ≥ 8. Seven factors of PSQI were analyzed. Results The scores of PSQI factors were highest in daytime dysfunction or disorder, followed by sleeping time, subjective sleep quality, and duration of sleep. Sleep disorder, sleep effi ciency and use of sleeping drugs ranked fi fth, sixth and seventh respectively. There was no difference between the sex groups of each factor (P > 0.05). Conclusion The characteristics of sleep disorders in seniors are prominent daytime dysfunction, diffi culty in falling asleep, poor subjective sleep quality and low use rate of sleeping drugs.
